Back to School - Part 3

It is closing in on that time again, time to go back to school!  Your children may not be happy about it, but there are ways that we can support the back to school transition so it is more comfortable for our kids with (or without) autism.

An additional thing we can do to facilitate a smooth transition back to school is to gradually set the alarm clock earlier and earlier as we get close to the day of going back to school.  This will get our child's body back into the rhythm of waking up earlier and getting tired earlier.  It is much easier to do this gradually over time than to have a shock to the system the first week back.

Book of the Week: Picky, picky Pete / by Michele Griffin ; [illustrated by Michele Griffin]. Sensory World, 2010.
