Tip of the Week for September 24th, 2012

A Trampoline Can Help with Toilet Training? Sounds Wacky!

Many children with autism and sensory processing disorders have a hard time with
toilet training. Some of this can be caused by low muscle tone in the lower abdominals. Improving muscle tone often coincides with improved sensation- which will lead to more successful toilet training! Consistent use of a trampoline, therapy ball or therapy "peanut" can strengthen these muscles and lead to quicker and more consistent toilet training.

Book of the week:
Potty Power for Boys and Girls: Say Goodbye to Diapers! [videorecording (DVD)], Mazzarella Media, 2006. Initiates and motivates children's interest in toilet training.. This DVD is in the SESA Library in Anchorage (we're so sorry, but the Fairbanks branch is closed due to budget constraints).
You may search the library catalog via the SESA website or contact Anne directly by email at afreitag@sesa.org, or by phone at 907-334-1301.
