Tip of the Week for September 3rd, 2012

Practice the 1, 2, 3

Getting out of a warm bed can be challenge in the morning. But even if you plan your morning routine down to the minute, you won't get anywhere unless your child gets out of bed. To make it easier, practice your "1, 2, 3's". When you go in to wake your child, ask him to count to three then hop quickly out of bed. Think of it like ripping off a band-aid! A preferred breakfast or short fun activity will make this easier for you child.

Book of the week:
Sleep Better: A Guide to Improving Sleep for Children with Special Needs/ by V. Mark Durand. Paul H. Brookes, 1998. Better sleep can mean easier waking, especially in Alaska when the winter darkness sets in. This book is in the SESA Library in Anchorage (we're so sorry, but the Fairbanks branch is closed due to budget constraints).
You may search the library catalog via the SESA website or contact Anne directly by email at [email protected], or by phone at 907-334-1301.
