Tip of the Week for May 28th, 2012
This Week's Tip: What Those on the Spectrum Need at Home - Part 1 In the book, "The Autism Checklist" Paula Kluth gives strategies for parents to use in their home for their child with ASD. She says, "Appreciate his uniqueness. Don't look for the autism in everything the child does. Read up on and learn about age-appropriate behaviors and the stages of development for typical kids. Realize that children on the autism spectrum will likely be going through those stages too. They may go through them at different ages, in a different sequence, or in unique ways, but try to remember that not every quirky behavior or frustrating occurrence is attributable to autism." (pg. 48)
