November 2012 Newsletter

Greetings!

Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

I know I have a lot to be personally thankful for.   I was not affected adversely in any way by Superstorm Sandy.  Because I live and work in the upper half of Manhattan, I had power and was not inconvenienced in any way.  It was definitely a different world up here.  And my home in East Hampton did not suffer any damages, save for a few downed tree branches.  My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones, homes and possessions due to this terrible storm.

On a different note, we are happy to report the recent successful sale of a $2.8 million three bedroom apartment in Greenwich Village that we staged.   An offer was accepted only after 10 days of being on the market, and sold for the full asking price!  See the before and after staging pictures below. And the real estate agent was absolutely thrilled with our transformation.  Read her testimonial below

Warmest regards,

"I just left the apartment at 42 W 13th Street, and Oh my God, you made this place look amazing!  It is spectacular. I can't wait to show it, in fact I am bringing my entire office down to see what you've done. It's  unbelievably gorgeous - I want to move in myself! Thank you Donna!"

Tips and Tricks of the Trade:
How to Arrange Bookshelves

In home staging we often use bookshelves as an opportunity to make a home shine as a work of art. Check out these photos and tips from RealSimple's article on arranging bookshelves and get to work transforming the shelves in your home!

Even just a few striking objects can create a visually interesting display.

There's no rule saying that everything has to match. Though these letters vary in look, they work together because they are alike in essence.

Style a bookcase with unexpected items, like an eye-catching antique or a porcelain statue.

Use labeled boxes to house odds and ends without a home.

Use a furry friend to keep your child's favorite reads in place.

Borrow a trick from interior designers: Inside a bookcase, use paint that's a couple shades deeper than the room color.
