How to answer the phone

The phone is still the most business's

primary point of

contact with

customers. And

the way you answer  your company's  phone will form  your customer's first impression of your business.

1)  Answer all incoming  phone calls before the third ring.

2)  When you answer the phone, be warm and enthusiastic.

Your voice on the phone is sometimes

the only impression

of your company a caller will get.

3)  When answering the phone, welcome callers

courteously and identify yourself

and your organization.

Say, for instance,

"Good morning.

How may I help you?"

4)  Keep your voice volume moderate, and speak slowly and clearly when answering  the phone.

5)  Make sure that you have a

professional  message

recorded, that

does the same

thing as tip #3. Update

your answering

message as needed.

President's Message

Well it's hard to believe that I am writing my last president's report.  It has been my pleasure to serve this organization and to have worked with great directors.    They have made my job very easy. But this year is not
quite over yet.

canadian-flag-porch.jpg Next week is Canada Day, and we will have a booth set up at Lewis Park to help promote the organization. But, this is also a wonderful and inexpensive way to promote yourself.

The cost to participate is only $10.00, and you can display your own information in addition to that of the SBA.

If you are interested in participating please call me for details and times available.

The fun doesn't end there. To wrap up the season, join us for our Summer Picnic on July 3rd

All you have to do is bring yourselves, BYOB and a chair and the rest is up to us.

The cost is only $10.00 so call today to book you spot.  For more info please see the Social Report for more details.

So I thank you again for all your support these past two years.

I look forward to working Russell Ball and his new board of directors, and I wish him great success for the 2014/2015 year.

Membership Report

At our AGM last month, we drew a name from the "Bring a guest" jar and Maxine LeFlour was the winner. Congratulations, Maxine!

I've enjoyed my time as Membership Director and getting to know the members both new and existing. I look forward to Elva Murdoch experiencing this when she takes over next September. I will now be taking over the reigns as Newsletter Director from Sarah Brune and looking forward to communicating with you all in a different way.

I'll see many of you at our summer picnic at Ginny's fabulous property!

Most business owners know by now that it is essential to have a web presence to compete but many haven't truly embraced the power of marketing through social media channels. Marketers place a very high value on social media and Facebook and LinkedIn are the two most important ones in 2014. Blogging holds the top spot for marketers' future plans while podcasting is on a growth trajectory. Original written content is most important for social media marketing while tactics and engagement are top areas to master.

Mark Erickson is course-certified in Facebook Brandpage Marketing and Facebook Advertising, and keeps up to date on social media trends. Mark has expanded into photography, and offers visual effects and animation services for web and film. Mark is considering offering 3D Printing services in future as the industry matures.
