Wow, what a year this is turning out to be!  We have had some very interesting spotlight speakers
and some very powerful networking at each meeting.  I look forward to each meeting to learn more about our members and guests.

 

At our last meeting we decided to ask for your help by placing a suggestion bag on each table.   I'm happy to say that many of you contributed some great ideas on how to improve our meetings and events.  Your board and I will do it's best to implement your suggestions and we hope you will continue to use these suggestion bags to help us further improve our organization.

 

Remember to get your ticket at the November meeting for our first Educational Event featuring Beth Campbell Duke as she talks on "3 Simple Secrets of Smart Business Professionals".  Tickets are only $10.00 each.

 

Now with less than 8 weeks to Christmas and one of the busiest times of the year I hope that you will join us for our annual Christmas Party on December 9th at Two Eagles Lodge.  More details below from Russ our Social Director.

Membership Report   We had a great turnout at the Oct meeting with 18 guests attending, and  now have 71 members to date.

 

At the November 1 meeting we will be drawing for a free membership.  Last year we had a "Bring a Guest Campaign".  Members who brought a guest who then joined our Association would have their name entered for the draw.  There were some members who had more than one entry.  Good luck everyone.

Program Report 

At our November 1 meeting, the "power networking portion" of the meeting will allow each person to provide a two-minute summary of his or her business and what represents a good lead for that business.   

 

To facilitate easy networking, "runners" will get a stack of the business person's cards before each one starts to speak.   As the speaker completes the presentation, audience members can raise hands and will immediately be handed the speaker's business card before the next presenter starts.  This will make it easy to connect during the post-presentation part of the meeting or for follow-up at another time.

 

In addition to the power networking, there will be two spotlight presentations by members Rina Knoesen, owner of Architectural Design by Rina Knoesen and Kathy Seymour, owner of Getting In Touch.  In addition, the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce will provide a short presentation on the Chamber, with focus on member benefits, including the availability of the Chamber website and Facebook page to help members grow their businesses.  This presentation will be by Dianne Hawkins, Executive Director, and Terri Perrin, Marketing Coordinator for the Chamber.

 

Rina Knoesen has been providing architectural designs for homeowners since the 1980s.  Some of her projects are renovations or additions, and others are new construction. She works with clients on Vancouver Island and around the  World.   

 

Kathy Seymour, a healing arts practitioner, has been working with individuals to feel healthier, relieve pain, andlive happier lives by combining a variety of modalities-Reiki, aromatherapy, Shiatsu, Jin Shin Do, chair massage, reflexology, and others.

A pot luck dessert / appetizer / salad

A wrapped gift under $10, if you wish to participate in the Blind Gift exchange.

A beverage of you choice. 

 

Donations of canned or boxed food items will be collected for the food bank for those less fortunate.

Your assistance in helping tidy up after the party is appreciated.

VERY IMPORTANT

There will be no sympathy for any of our guests who drink to excess and drive home. If you plan on drinking your limit, consider contacting Carolyn at Two Eagles to obtain overnight accommodations. The rooms are reasonable and very comfortable.

 

Another option is to use Operation Red Nose, who will see you safely home and will drive your vehicle for you as well. Generous donations to them are recommended.
