Award Winning Author Returns to Chatham Library

David Black, who has received numerous awards as a journalist, novelist, screenwriter and producer, will speak at the Chatham Public Library on Saturday, June 20 at 3 pm. He will read from and talk about his new novel, Fast Shuffle, a mystery that has received rave reviews from early readers.

A resident of Ghent, Black has published twelve books and more than 150 magazine articles, plus hundreds of screenplays and a poetry collection. His non-fiction book, Murder at the Met, was nominated for an Edgar Allen Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America. The Plague Years, a book based on a series he wrote for Rolling Stone, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Black is also an award-winning TV writer whose credits include Law & Order, CSI Miami, Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice and 100 Centre Street, among others. His feature film, The Confession, starring Alec Baldwin and Ben Kingsley, received the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Script. His TV movie, Legacy of Lies, won the Writers Foundation of America Gold Medal for Excellence in Writing.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Chatham Public Library, Black's talk is a continuation of the non-profit group's monthly Authors and Artists series. It is free of charge and open to the public. A question and answer session and a reception will follow the talk. Although Fast Shuffle has an official publication date of July 7, books will be available for purchase and signing on June 20.
