1000 Books

sign up now

The goal of the program is to read 1000 books to your child before he or she enters school. You decide how often and how long you read to your child.Children from the age of zero to five may sign up to participate.

Reading 1,000 books may sound impossible; however, if you read only 3 books a day to your child, you will complete this program in less than a year. But, don't feel rushed!

1000 Books is generously supported by the Chatham Alumni Association.

Peter Jung to speak on the Hudson River School on Thurs, 5/21 @6:30 pm
Peter Jung will present a slide show and discussion of Hudson River School paintings dating from 1825 to 1875. Included will be popular works by Frederic Church, builder of Olana; his mentor, Thomas Cole; and George Inness, among others. For the past 25 years Peter Jung has owned a gallery in Hudson, NY featuring traditional American paintings.  During that time he has handled many examples of the Hudson River school of art.  Jung has served on the Boards of the Olana Partnership, the Hudson Opera House, the Hudson Planning Commission, and the Friends of Hudson.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Chatham Public Library, this event is part of their monthly Authors and Artists series.
