A renowned film critic for many years, Biskind is well known in Columbia County for programming all the films shown at the Crandall Theater and for being one of the two experts who choose movies for the popular Chatham Film Festival.

          The author of seven books that have been translated into more than 30 languages, Biskind is currently finishing another, his eighth, called Adventures in Extreme Culture. His best-known book to date is Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll Generation Saved Hollywood. It was the basis of a documentary of the same name.

          His other books include: Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance and the Rise of Independent Film, How Warren Beatty Seduced America and My Lunches with Orson: Conversations between Henry Jaglom and Orson Welles.

          Biskind is also a cultural critic, film historian and former editor-in-chief of American Film magazine and executive editor of Premiere. His articles have appeared in numerous publications ranging from The New York Times to Rolling Stone, to Paris Match. He is currently a contributing editor to Vanity Fair.

          Sponsored by the Friends of the Chatham Public Library, Biskind's talk is a continuation of the non-profit group's monthly Authors and Artists series. It is free of charge and open to the public. A question and answer session, reception, and a book signing will follow the talk.
