Library Catalog Computers Up and Running!
The library's catalog can now be accessed on dedicated (and labeled) computers in the library; there is one catalog computer on each floor of the library.
We're always happy to help you search for books and other materials, but now you also have the option to look them up in the catalog yourself. If you're not sure how to do this, let us know and we'll be happy to show you! |

"summer afternoon-summer afternoon...the two most beautiful words in the English language"
Edith Wharton A Backward Glance 1934
Dear Friends,
The Chatham Public Library's Dig Into Reading Summer Reading Program will be in full swing in July. Summer reading has been shown to help children maintain and improve reading skills. Reading expert, Stephen Krashen, says children read more when they listen to and discuss books, reading skills grow by reading and reading helps improve children's writing.
The library has planned many activities over the summer. The July programs are described below and some require registration in advance. We are able to present these programs with the support of the Friends of the Chatham Public Library. The Graphic Novel Workshop with Barbara Slate is being presented thanks to the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts. The films throughout the year are sponsored by the Chatham Film Club.
The Ghent Dairy Queen is providing coupons this year for a free ice cream cone as an incentive to read. They are also providing an ice cream cake for our final party with the Ivy Vine Players on August 14th. All programs are free of charge.
Come in and sign up and read with your children this summer!
On another topic, the Mid-Hudson Library System is looking for a trustee from Columbia County with a love of libraries for a five year term. If you are interested in submitting a resume, please call the library.
Sincerely,
Wendy Fuller
Interim Director, Chatham Public Library
