Welcoming Pastor Brandon, THIS SUNDAY

On July 3rd we will be welcoming our new minister, Pastor Brandon. We will have a salad bar lunch after the second service to give people a time to get to know him. You are asked to bring your favorite salad bar item (croutons, shredded carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.). Lettuce, salad dressings, beverages, and dessert will be provided.

Join Jim Towey, founder of Aging with Dignity and the Five Wishes, on Friday, July 8th from 1-3 pm. Jim will share his personal stories from his time spent living in one of Mother Teresa's missions, and tell us how her work with the dying inspired him to carry on her legacy of providing dignity for patients at the end of their lives.
His
presentation will include practical tips for:
  • All adults on how to plan for care before a serious illness
  • Family caregivers who want to provide the best possible care to loved ones
  • Healthcare providers who talk to patients and families about advance care planning
Announcements
1. New Fellowship Coordinator Needed!

DUMC is looking for a new Fellowship Coordinator starting asap. The job is fairly simple - arrange which one of our many wonderful Fellowship hosts (there is a list) is willing to provide snacks each Sunday (two hosts per week for the two different services). This can be done on a weekly basis or once a month depending on personal preference. Additionally, it can be done by phone, email, or online sign-up. If this is a job you would be willing to take on, contact Anna in the office at  davisumc@davisumc.org.

2.
Help Wanted!

Are you someone who enjoys children and who has been affirmed for your gifts with children? The DUMC Children's Program could use your help this summer! Here is what is needed:
  • 1 helper every Sunday during the summer. Sunday School assistants are responsible for helping the children participate in their activities in a more traditional Sunday School setting. Does not require the ability to sit on the floor!
Interested in helping?

Contact Jeri Viera Dahlke at (916) 947-1102 or kidsministry@davisumc.org

3. Get Acquainted with Your New Pastor

Imagine what a challenge it is for your new pastor to get acquainted with everyone in his congregation - not just to match names and faces, but actually to know something about each individual!  To make it easier for Pastor Brandon Austin, there will be a series of small social get-togethers connecting the pastor with small groups of people.

If you are interested in attending such a gathering, please sign up in the Fellowship Hall after either service so that you can be contacted when dates are set. Available dates will begin during the summer and continue into the fall.

4. Check out the new Member Resources Page on our Website!

Several useful documents for members have been added to the DUMC website (www.davisumc.org) under the Member Resources tab.  These items include Church Council meeting minutes, user instructions for the church calendar, and FAQ's for committee members and chairs.  More will be added in the coming months. If you have any suggestions of items that should be added, contact Anna in the office at davisumc@davisumc.org.
