This Sunday, November 19th
Worship at 8:30 and 11:00 am
The church has its own calendar of the Christian year, with its own seasons. These seasons mirror the seasons of our lives and our world, and carry with them a sense of God's movement in different seasons. This week, we take a tour through the seasons of the Christian calendar, getting a taste of the meaning and message of each season.

3.  Church Conference, THIS SUNDAY, 4-6 pm

We will once again host the event here at Davis UMC. We will gather with all the churches from our Circuit: Woodland UMC, St. Paul's UMC/Vacaville, Community UMC/Fairfield, and Dixon UMC. We will worship together, conduct our annual business, and share a meal together.

The general schedule for the conference is as follows:
Opening Music
Worship
Churches Move to Separate Rooms
Church Conferences
Circuit Potluck Dinner
3:50-4:05 pm
4:05-4:40 pm

4:45-5:15 pm
5:15-6:00 pm

Davis UMC has agreed to provide set-up, clean-up, and beverages for the event. (The other churches are providing all of the food.) We will need about 10 people to help move furniture after second service that day (and then back after the conference) as well as a couple of people to help with making coffee, bringing cold beverages, and set-up/clean-up for the potluck.

If you can help with one or more of these jobs, email Lorraine Beaman (jlbcareers@sbcglobal.net)

2. Wednesday Bible Study Updates

1)  No Bible study next Wednesday, Nov. 25th due to proximity to Thanksgiving.

2)  On Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, we will shift away from our study of Mark to learning about the Women of Christmas, an Advent Study. No book purchase is necessary. The book gets absolutely rave reviews, so it should be enriching.

3. Conflict Resolution and Mediation Certificate Training

The Yolo Conflict Resolution Center is offering Conflict Resolution and Mediation Certificate Training in January 2016.  This 40-hour training is the first step in becoming a YCRC volunteer mediator.  The training is also beneficial for individuals looking to learn skills for effective communication and dealing with conflicts.

Applications are due December 1, 2015.  The fee for the program is $600 (scholarships available).  To register, for more information, or if you would like to contribute to the scholarship program, see  www.yolocrc.org

4. 2015 Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter (IRWS)

In December the local churches will begin providing a warm shelter for the homeless in our community. Our church will provide one week of shelter this year: Sunday, December 13th - Saturday, December 19th, 2015.

There are many ways you can help. Please signup in Fellowship Hall or contact Rita Lundin (Ritamae56@comcast.net).
  • Bring food/drink
  • Donate money for needed food and expenses
  • Offer hospitality (serve and eat with our quests)
  • Be an evening driver
  • Be an overnight or morning host
