In 2014 we paid over $1500 more in sewage fees that we did this year. How did this happen and how can we prevent this from happening again.

 

Sewer rates are determined by the water we consume during the winter months of November, December, January and February. During the winter of 2012/13 we consumed an average of 41 hundred cubic feet (CCF) per month. The resulting sewer bill was $213/mon for 12 months. For the winter of 2014/15 our average water consumption was a little less than 15 CCF so our monthly sewer charge will be about $88 starting in December 2015.

To minimize our sewer charge, we can be diligent about water waste during those months. This coming winter the Trustees are going to pay close attention to winter water consumption including: turning off all irrigation, weekly inspecting for leaks, especially toilets, weekly reading our water meter, and removing all outdoor faucet handles.

 

Please report any water leaks. Look for toilets with "trickle" or "running" sounds, dripping faucets, or wet spots where they should not be.
