Notice of Public Hearing

Public notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) will hold four public hearings to receive comments on the Draft 2017 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) which sets forth DCA's process for allocating federal and state resources available for the development of affordable rental housing.  Financing sources available through DCA include the Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME).

October 18th (9AM)    Atlanta, GA
                                   Cobb Galleria Centre

October 18th (1PM)   Webinar (register here)

October 19th (1PM)   Waycross, GA
                                   Waycross City Hall


October 20th (10AM) Albany, GA
                                   Micro Business Enterprise Center  

All interested parties will be given the opportunity to be heard and express their views at the public hearings.  Registration information for the Webinar on October 18th is available at the link above.  If you would like to submit your comment(s) in writing, please email them to hfdround@dca.ga.gov.  Comments must be received by November  4, 2016 for consideration.

Atlanta's Affordable Housing Preservation Challenge
 
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Georgia ACT, Enterprise Community Partners, and the JP Morgan Chase Foundation invite you to the launch event for Atlanta's Affordable Housing Preservation Challenge on Thursday, November 3 from 9:15 am - 2 pm at the Southface Energy Institute. The Preservation Challenge is an idea competition to generate innovative, implementable proposals that will help preserve affordable housing in the Atlanta region and throughout Georgia's urban centers. This competition is open to all stakeholders with an interest in affordable housing, and up to $100,000 in resources will be made to support concept development and implementation. The launch event will bring together experts from the development sector, community organizations, local and regional government, financial institutions, and the research community for an interactive discussion of the region's housing affordability challenges and preservation opportunities. The event will feature a cross-disciplinary panel discussion with local practitioners as well as an interactive discussion of the Preservation Competition goals and process. Join us to learn more about these challenges and opportunities and how to participate in the Affordable Housing Preservation Challenge.

The Legal Consultant will be responsible for handling Real Estate legal issues related to the DCA portfolio including real estate closings for affordable housing loans, loan modification requests and negotiating workouts for DCA funded properties. The Legal Consultant also provides legal advice on federal and state laws and regulations that impact the administration and implementation of the Departments affordable housing programs and activities. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analyzing and reviewing policies and procedures for compliance with program regulations, handling Georgia Open Record Requests, Managing internal contracts and procurement processes. This position demands a willingness to stretch and grow-offering opportunities for leadership, development, and public speaking.
