Notice of DCA Waiting List Opening
|
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs will be accepting Preliminary Applications for its Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) beginning at 12:01 AM on Monday, February 1, 2016 until Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 11:59 PM. Preliminary applications are being accepted for all 149 counties that we serve. Preliminary Applications will only be accepted electronically through our system.
The voucher program provides a rental subsidy to assist extremely low and low-income individuals and families in renting safe, decent and affordable housing in the private rental market throughout DCA's jurisdiction of 149 counties in Georgia. The subsidy is given to eligible families who are selected from the wait list. Eligibility for the program is based on several factors including the family's income and eligible citizenship status.
To apply to the wait list, interested individuals and families can visit www.applygadca.com. Those requiring assistance in completing the preliminary application may call the application assistance line at 888-858-6085. Application assistance line representatives will help applicants complete the preliminary application over the phone and answer any general questions about the program or the application process. The application assistance line is available 24 hours a day until 11:59 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2016. You may also visit the DCA website at www.dca.ga.gov for general program information. There is no advantage to applying on the first day. Applications will be entered into a lottery and a drawing will be held to determine the random ranking of the preliminary applications on the waiting list.
No duplicate applications will be accepted. All applications must be complete including correct social security numbers and date of birth for each family member, including minors.
