Building on this concept, Be The Change (BTC) is a youth focused program that promotes civic engagement by providing youth with leadership and networking skills.

This program is funded by Ontario Trillium Foundation and offered at Brampton Multicultural Community Centre.

BTC is divided into three modules which are geared to equip the youth with a variety of skills to address identified issues and create a positive change in their community.

1. Leadership foundation: focuses on public speaking, media training, negotiation and leadership development.

2. Youth Engagement: comprises of getting the youth acquainted with various stakeholders related to the identified issue and understanding how the decision making process works within their local and regional community. This includes visits to city council, arranging meetings with the mayor, MPPs and the regional and city counsellors.

3. Mentorship: gives the youth a chance to network and complete their project with the guidance of mentors who will extend their experience and wisdom throughout this activity.
