We did well at the LAST (more about that below) Whitman Philly show. We are now posting Part 1 of our Philly new purchases.
Our newps include a nice 1822 dime in PCGS G-6, an 1827/7 JR-1 dime in PCGS VF-35, the rare 1859-S dime in PCGS XF-40, several quarters including an 1848 with a 90 degree rotated reverse (the first one I am aware of), an 1852/1852 in NGC MS-63, an 1883 in PCGS MS-65, a fabulously gorgeous 1887 in PCGS PR-64 CAC with spectacular toning (there is some glare on the picture resulting from lighting, but I think you will get the idea):
We also acquired a nice rare 1822/1 half, the rare O-102 variety, in PCGS AU-50, a nice 1830 Large Letters half in VG-10, an 1851 half in NGC AU-55, an 1852 half in AU-53, an 1842 Seated dollar in PCGS XF-45 which is AU in my book, a group of circulated 3c nickels from 1878 to 1882 plus 1886 and 1887, and a 1976-D Doubled Die Obverse quarter in PCGS AU-55.
All of our coins including the following newps are posted on our website www.richuhrichcoins.com. If you see any coin(s) of interest, please call (717)533-2935 or (717)579-8238 (cell) or e-mail us at [email protected] to reserve the coin(s) that you want.

The Demise of the Philly Show
|
Whitman has announced that the just-completed Philly show will be its last one in Philly. We have done well at every Philly show we attended, and it is relatively close to home, so we will miss it. But this year, the show was the week before Long Beach, so a lot of dealers skipped Philly to focus on Long Beach. There were also issues with the facility. For example, one of our lights broke when we were packing for the show. I said, no problem, we will just rent one at the show. But when we found out that renting one light was $60 - - $10 for the light rental, and a $50 labor charge for the person required to install it, we decided to do without.
In my opinion, Convention Center management and the unions need to understand that the market for convention centers is nationwide, and if people are dissatisfied, they will hold their next convention in another city.

Looking Toward The Future
|
My next show is a local show in Harrisburg, PA on Saturday, October 5, followed by the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists (PAN) show Thursday, October 24 to Saturday, October 26. Then the Baltimore show is Thursday, November 7 to Saturday, November 9. If you go to any of these shows, please stop by and say hello!
