White Horse Laboratories has been publishing our Weekly Quality Reports since 2009, which are a listing of the devices that have had over 5% lot failure in electrical testing or the buyer has rejected the lot following results of inspection methods

While this list does not imply that the balance of devices within a lot are defective, and is not exhaustive (for example, a 5% failure rate may be too high or some buyers may accept devices in a physical condition that others would not), it is intended to an indicator as to what is going on in the market and is a reminder to be aware of the risks of sourcing without adequate quality control measures in place.

Typhoon Linfa

Signal 8 Raised in Hong Kong at 4:40pm Local Time

The Hong Kong Observatory issued the Typhoon #8 signal at 4:40pm following announcements to that affect starting much earlier in the afternoon.

While we were able to get most shipments out before courier closed, there were a couple yet to be collected which couriers delayed pickup until the typhoon signal was reduced to 3 or lower.

Please keep an eye on your tracking numbers as, even if courier did pick up, that does not confirm flights left Hong Kong on schedule.

We expect our Hong Kong team to return to work on Friday morning at regularly scheduled time. Our Shenzhen operations have not been affected by the typhoon.

Substandard Parts List

Harris CA3020A3 (Date Code 9924) - 86% Failure Rate - Low or no switching and broken pins.

ON Semiconductor MBR0530T1G (Date Code not marked or labeled) - 28% Failure Rate - High forward voltage, Vf.

Analog Devices OP207AY (Date Code 0041) - 67% Failure Rate - No output from an internal short-circuit which pulled down the input signal.

STMicroelectronics L9162 (Multiple Date Codes) - 19% Failure Rate - Frequency channels not switching, no CAN bus switching, and incorrect pin out.

Analog Devices AD595CD (Date Code 0430) - 43% Failure Rate - Readings above and below the 1% C of converted output.

Xilinx XC4VFX40-11FFG672C (Date Code 0237) - 20% Failure Rate - Cannot download, failed JTAG test.

AD595CD Failure for High Output at temperature variation.
