Week 13 Quality Report



Since 2009, White Horse Laboratories has been publishing our Weekly Quality Reports, which is a listing of the devices that have had over 5% lot failure in electrical testing or the buyer has rejected the lot following results of inspection methods

While this list is not exhaustive (for example, a 5% failure rate may be too high or some buyers may accept devices in a physical condition that others would not), it is intended to an indicator as to what is going on in the market and is a reminder to be aware of the risks of sourcing without adequate quality control measures in place.

Holiday Notice
Easter & Qingming Festival Holidays

The Easter and the Qingming (Tomb Sweeping) holidays collide this year, both occurring on Monday, April 6th. As a result, our 
Hong Kong facility reaps a boon with the public holiday schedule being Friday, April 3 (Good Friday), thru Tuesday April 7, returning to work on Wednesday, April 8.

China Operations are off on only Monday, April 6, and return on Tuesday, April 7.

Chinese Cemetary
The Qingming (Pure Brightness) Festival, or Tomb Sweeping Day, is one of the 24 seasonal division points in China, falling on April 4-6 each year. It is the time for spring plowing and sowing, but the Qingming Festival is not only a seasonal point to guide farm work, it is more a festival of commemoration of family ancestors and a time return to ancestral burial places to maintain the grave sites.
  
The festival is a combination of sadness and happiness.

Substandard Parts List
                           

Texas Instruments TMS320VC5416PGE160 (Date Codes 1233 and 1237) - 5% Failure Rate - Shorted pins.

 

STMicroelectronics L9162 (Date Code not marked or labeled) - 100% Failure Rate - Draws current above 600mA which causes the devices to overheat and no regulation occurs.

 

NXP Semiconductor BLF645 (Date Code 1413) - 100% Failure Rate - High Igss, more than +/- 1uA with +/- 10V Vgs (gate-source voltage).

 

Texas Instruments OPA188AID (Date Code 49M, AEJP) - 100% Failure Rate - Burned out at +/- 18V power supply.

 

Freescale XC56309AG100A (Date Codes 1227, 1239, and 1243) - 69% Failure Rate - Opens, shorts, and broken protection diodes.

Notes:

1. Statistics are calculated as a percentage of all lots dis-positioned within the given time period.

2. "Accept" is defined as customer acceptance of report device condition.

3. "Pass" is defined as meeting electrical parameters defined by the agreed upon test plan.
