Crisis Center Advocate Commended by Florida Attorney General
The Crisis Center's Lead Victim Advocate, Amanda Brennan, was honored with a 2016 Distinguished Victim Service Award by Florida Attorney General, Pam Bondi this month. The award is presented to victim advocates and law enforcement officers for their outstanding work assisting victims of crime. The Attorney General presented the awards at a ceremony commemorating National Crime Victims' Rights Week at the Florida State Capitol. Amanda has worked with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay for over 3 years. She started with the organization as a Crisis Specialist in the 2-1-1 Contact Center and later joined the Sexual Assault Services team as a Victim Advocate. In 2015, she was promoted to Lead Victim Advocate. In her current role, she works directly with sexual assault survivors, manages 25 volunteer advocates, and participates in community outreach and violence prevention education. She also serves as Chairperson of the Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay, a local coalition of agencies and individuals committed to ending sexual violence. Amanda is part of a team of advocates, nurse examiners, and therapists who work tirelessly to ensure that survivors don't have to face crisis alone. Your support of the Crisis Center creates the opportunity for these survivors to access the services they need to heal from the trauma of sexual assault.
