A Veteran's Day Victory at Operation Reveille

Terminal 6 at the Port of Tampa is usually a gathering place for vacationers eagerly awaiting the departure of a 5-day, fun-filled cruise. The crowd that gathered on Veterans Day was also filled with hope and anticipation, but for an entirely different reason. On this day, the cruise ship terminal served as the staging area for "Operation Reveille".

Operation Reveille was a collaborative effort of non-profit organizations and government agencies to rapidly re-house 50 homeless veterans into permanent apartment housing across Hillsborough County. The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay was there, throughout Veteran's Day, with staff from the Florida Veteran's Support Line who helped homeless veterans navigate the housing process, and explore additional services that were being provided.

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay also staffed a table to answer veteran's questions and provide information pertaining to the Florida Veteran's Support Line.  Over 50 veterans were provided housing that day and each one of them received information pertaining to the Florida Veterans Support line (1-844-MYFLVET).

Any veteran in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk and Manatee counties can call 1-844-MYFLVET (693-5838) and talk with a fellow veteran who can provide both emotional support and information pertaining to community resources.

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay is honored to have contributed to the success of Operation Reveille, but the work doesn't end here. If you know any veteran who might need assistance, please share this article and encourage them to call 1-844-MYFLVET (693-5838).
