In their own words: M.K.'s Story

It's only through the support of people like you that the Crisis Center was able to respond to over 160,000 requests for help last year!

Each one of those people has a unique story to tell of how they were helped in their time of Crisis. One of these people is M.K. who found help when he walked through the doors of the Family Stabilization department at the Crisis Center. He sent the following via email expressing his thanks:

"My name is M.K.  I am 60 years old, my wife is disabled and we are raising our 11 year old granddaughter. I have been unemployed since February of this year (8 months and counting).  At this point we have exhausted all my retirement funds. We are down to few hundred dollars.  We needed help paying for utility bills. I have attended the meeting with a Case Manager, Ms. Lynette Diaz. We spent nearly an hour going over all the documents I presented. She was very pleasant and eager to help.  I was provided with valuable information about additional resources (such as State and Federal - Social Security, etc.) that I could leverage to better help in mitigating the financial crisis we are currently facing.

When a financial crisis strikes, your support of the Crisis Center helps keep people in their homes and off the streets. Thank you to everyone who is a member of the Sustainer Society, Circle of Caring, Legacy Society, or who has provided a one-time gift! You support allows the Crisis Center to provide financial education and intervention to those that need it most!
