Florida Veterans Outreach Program Launching October 27th
The Tampa Bay area has one of the largest veteran populations in the nation. In Hillsborough County alone, there are over 100,000 veterans and active duty personnel. The transition to civilian life can be extremely difficult for both military personal and their families. On Monday, October 27th the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay will be launching a new program for veterans who are in need of help and services. The Florida Veterans Outreach Program is designed to assist veterans in a 5-county area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk and Manatee) in the adjustment from military to civilian life. Veterans who call 1-844-MYFLVET (693-5838) will speak to a fellow veteran who will provide emotional support and referral to VA- funded programs and community- based services. The Crisis Center is currently recruiting people with a military background to volunteer to answer calls and be there for fellow veterans in need.
