Crisis Center Volunteer Honored as Lightning Community Hero
Jamie Klingman is a remarkable young woman. In addition to being a successful entrepreneur and owner of multiple businesses, she manages to make time in her busy schedule to volunteer at a number of nonprofit organizations including the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
Jamie was honored as the Lightning Community Hero at the Tampa Bay Lightning game on February 6th. The Lightning Foundation chooses a Hero to honor at each of the 41 home games. The award selection committee considers how the nominee impacts individuals, families or the community-at-large, and how they go "above and beyond" to serve and inspire others. During a break in the first period, a video was shown on the Lightning Vision Scoreboard that highlighted Jamie's work at the Crisis Center. Everyone attending the sold out hockey game cheered as Jamie donned her custom Lightning jersey. Jamie presented the Crisis Center with a check for $40,000 as part of her $50,000 award.
Jamie's Crisis Center resume is impressive. She serves on the Crisis Center's board of directors; chairs the Development committee; is membership chair for Women in Action; and a Sustainer Society and Legacy Society member. She also is utilizing her experience in event management to help organize this year's Take Back the Night event on April 27th.
Volunteers and donors like Jamie are what allow the Crisis Center to offer help, hope and healing to people facing crisis in our community. If you're interested in volunteering, please click HERE. If you would like to donate to the Crisis Center, please click HERE.
