Crisis Center Wins Verizon Innovation Award

Representatives from the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay sat in anticipation at the Verizon Wireless Technology Innovation Awards luncheon held at the A La Carte event pavilion on November 5th and gladly accepted the award when the Crisis Center's name was called as a 2013 winner!

The 2013 Verizon Wireless Technology Innovation Awards recognizes the most innovative implementations of Verizon Wireless technology in small and medium sized organizations operating in Tampa Bay.  By winning the award, the Crisis Center will receive $10,000 from Verizon.

The Crisis Center won the award based on its use of Verizon Wireless technology in its fleet of TransCare Medical Transportation vehicles. TransCare wheelchair transport vehicles are equipped with mobile data terminals, powered by Verizon, to ensure accurate routing and on-time arrivals for patients with critical medical appointments. In addition, TransCare's ambulances, are equipped with Verizon technology which allows drivers to communicate electronically with dispatch centers, while GPS coordinates are fed in real time. The technology has helped TransCare to respond to 9-1-1 calls 25% faster.

The $10,000 award from Verizon will help the Crisis Center bring hope and healing to the lives of people in our community. It takes millions of dollars to fund services like 2-1-1, Sexual Assault Services, & Corbett Trauma Center.
