WELCOME: NEW WELLNESS DIRECTOR

Welcome our new Wellness Director, Stephanie Howe, to the YMCA! Stephanie comes to the YMCA with a decade of experience in the fitness industry. Most recently, Stephanie has been the owner/operator of Howe-to Fitness here in Mankato, a group fitness and personal training studio that she started in November 2012. Before starting her own business, Stephanie spent time working in corporate fitness with HealthFitness Corporation and prior to that was the Health and Fitness Manager at the Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center. Her very first job in fitness was right here at the Mankato YMCA where she worked in college as a wellness coach, personal trainer, and fitness instructor.
A Mankato native, Stephanie graduated from Mankato West High School and went on to attend Bethany Lutheran College where she played soccer and obtained a degree in Exercise Science. She is an NSCA-certified personal trainer and has specialty group fitness certifications in Mat Pilates, kettlebells, and Les Mills BODYPUMP, BODYCOMBAT, BODYFLOW and GRIT.
Stephanie enjoys being a coach and a resource to those who want to improve the quality of their life through exercise. It is her belief that if exercise is going to become a part of your life that it needs to be FUN! She hopes to be instructing fitness classes for decades to come and is excited to continue to do so at the YMCA. Even more than leading classes herself, her favorite part of what she does is developing and growing new instructors who share her passion for the individuals they motivate and the classes they teach.
Stephanie is excited to return to the YMCA in her new role and looks forward to getting to know the members!
BROTHER/SISTER SPOTLIGHT

Ben and Devin have been matched for over a year now and have a really fun relationship!

Ben says he likes that Devin has a good sense of humor and makes him laugh. Devin is very friendly and is open to trying new things which makes it easier when they are figuring out things to do.

When asked what his favorite part about being a mentor was Ben responded, "Those moments where you realize that you are making a huge impact on someone else's life. I feel like I have a second family/home with the McCabe's, they are a great group of people."

Devin and Ben love going swimming at the Y or Bray park, getting ice cream and riding bikes together. They also enjoy fishing even though they haven't had much luck catching anything!

Ben shared this great story, "One hot summer day we went fishing just outside of Mankato. All day we struggled with losing our worms, tangling our lines and
swatting the many bugs away. One of our bobbers had indicated that we might have caught something! We realized that it had just gotten caught on a weed and still had a good laugh over it. To my surprise at the end of our adventure Devin asked if we could go again and I replied, "Of course," realizing that things don't always have to be a "success" to make them worthwhile.

Congratulations Ben and Devin for being the March Match of the Month!
