The YMCA KidsK during Mankato Marathon weekend is an athletic event not to be missed. The KidsK is open to all youth. Come early and get involved in some fun warm up exercises. Young participants will run under the official marathon gantry just like the adults on Sunday's run. This is a fun run. A clock will be at the finish line, but times will not be recorded. LIVESTRONG AT THE Y
CANCER SUPPORT
|
Cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. The Y and LIVESTRONG have joined together to create LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a research-based physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their total health. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free 12-week program offering cancer survivors specialized physical fitness training designed to help reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis. Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body. The program is open to members and non-members alike, at any stage of their diagnosis and is set to begin in October. To learn more about LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, contact Joy Leafblad at 345-9813 or
