Frink at Preschool
Mankato artist and professor  Brian Frink visited with YMCA preschoolers recently talking about and getting their impressions of his recent series of pet paintings.

This is one of the area's best opportunities to give children 3 through 5 a readiness and passion for learning. Through colorful activities and creative professional staff, the Y's preschool activates and stimulates intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth.

Classes are two and a half hours in length. The offers several options on attending -- Tuesdays and Thursdays; Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays;  of Monday through Friday. Options depend on ages.

Children do need to be potty-trained and be within the ages 3-5 by Sept. 1, 2013. Membership is not required.

Like Dancing? Like the Y?
Support John Kind's 'Dancing with the Mankato Stars' and you support the American Red Cross

John and partner

By now you may have heard about the American Red Cross fundraiser, "Dancing with the Mankato Stars," taking place Feb 23 at the Kato Ballroom.

Among the stars performing is John Kind, the Y's executive director. John's been practicing with his dance partner, Meagan Gerber, and is determined to be the winner of not just smooth moves, but on generating contributions.

That's where you come in. Attendees can buy tickets to sit in a dancer's cheer section. The more support, the better scoring for that dancer.

They can also get points by advance votes, which cost $1 each. Please consider Contributing "votes" for John at the Y. For every $5 donated, you'll have a chance at some nice weekly raffles underway including a six-month towel and locker service and a YMCA gift and apparel package.

And, of course, you can buy your Dancing with the Mankato Stars tickets at the Y as well.

Here are the event details:

For $100 a month, your professionally designed message will rotate among messages at the rate of six times per hour for every hour of operation. Crunching the numbers, that adds up to 2,735 showings of your message per week, and a rate of .03 per  message.

Interested? We're limiting the number of sponsors to 20, so stop by the lobby and Life Center and have a look. Email or call
