A DAY AT THE CIRCUS
kids as elephants

Discovery preschool students recently enjoyed taking part in a circus celebration with tigers, elephants, clowns and many colorful friends.

Construction begins May 7

It's official: The remodeling and renovation project of the Y begins May 7, starting with the lower level. This will affect locker room use for most of the summer, with the only open locker rooms being the adult men's locker room and the women's and girls. In the meantime, the cage-locker area of the men's locker room will serve as a men & boys locker room.

It's important that cage lockers in the men's locker room and the kit lockers in the women's locker room be cleared out by May 5. The Y staff will be emptying and removing these lockers during the construction.

The Y will be keep members up to date on construction news on its web page.

...And your help is still needed
As we approach the first phase of construction, the Y remains in need of funds to cover the costs of the improvements you'll be enjoying. So we're asking you, the members and friends of the Y, to pitch in.

Please keep an eye out for a letter detailing the construction as well as the easy options for contributing to the Y's building effort. The letter will be sent with a pledge card that offers options ranging from a one-time payment to a gift that can be spread over three years.

Quick contributions can even be made in the donation box in our front lobby.

Remodeled locker rooms and lobby, increased parking space, new cost-saving heat, air con, electric and plumbing are among the comforts we're providing members through this project. Please consider helping with a contribution.

Get your business in the Y

Have you noticed the new digital message boards in the Y lobby and the Life Center? Not only are these display terminals a more colorful and attractive way to provide members with the latest Y news flashes, it's an affordable way for businesses to support the Y while reaching potential customers.

For $100 a month, your professionally designed message will rotate among messages at the rate of six times per hour for every hour of operation. Crunching the numbers, that adds up to 2,735 showings of your message per week, and a rate of .03 per  message.

Interested? We're limiting the number of sponsors to 20, so stop by the lobby and Life Center and have a look. Email or call Joe Tougas to sign up at 345-9807.

Summer camps incorporating new with traditional

It's time for the two traditions that make for great memories, experiences and friendships: Summer Camps and the YMCA.

The 2012 Summer Camp season features the traditional offerings that have been a part of the Mankato area for generations as well as a few new twists.

New this year are several skateboard-oriented camps as well as half-day camps.

That's in addition to the popular wee backpackers and day camps families have grown to love and rely on for enriching summer experiences.

For a complete look at the offerings, check out the camp web page.
