Happy Friday everyone!

Last week, Adam opened "finding real," our new sermon series.  Kick off your shoes and get comfy in the gospel of John, as we'll spend the school year here. Adam's father, a minister, was so passionate about the gospel of John, that he printed copies of the gospel and handed them out to everyone ... the grocery bagger, the gas pump attendant (oh, sigh!, remember those?).

The gospel of John is important because John was the best friend of Jesus and he wrote this gospel 40, 50 years after Jesus's ascension, so he's got the perspective of the direction of the church and the ways that the church started to veer off the path ... these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the messiah.

I'm having a hard time doing justice to Adam's words, (scroll below to find out why... )  so take a listen here.

Movie: Saturday 20 September

Mark you calendars! We'll be hosting a movie night this week, showing the movie Heaven is for Real.  Click here for a great trailer.

Saturday 9/20 6pm. Admission is free. Family Center.

Great story about a 4-year old boy who has a near death experience and visits heaven. During his visit, he's able to learn things about his parents and his family that he'd have no other way of knowing. He experience rocks the faith of family and friends.

Hearing Devices Now Available

Having subpar hearing is no fun for anyone. Trust me, this I know first hand. So if you feel like you are missing Pastor Eric's jokes or if Pastor Adam talks a smidge too fast ... ask to borrow a hearing device! Yep, Newport Cov has assistive hearing devices for you to borrow. Ask a greeter. (And, yes they are small and discreet.)

... and finally
Yep, I'm burying the lead. (If I were my editor, I'd demote me.)

There I was last Friday, putting finishing touches on the NOW (perhaps I could name that issue THAN -- That Happened Already News, ha ha ha) and there was a snafu with the old website. It was around noon and I thought "well, one small fix, how long could that take?" and then sometime around 9pm I was googling "prayers for web design." By Saturday morning, I was able to cobble together something to save face...

... and then, music to my ears, Pastor Adam came to my desk Monday and said "Okay, the new site is ready."

Yep. You heard right. A. Pastor Adam built our new website and B.  We launched the new site this week.  Which is marvelous. Slightly less marvelous is a teensy hiccup in our church wide email. So if you emailed us this week and we didn't write back, try again. We are back up to snuff, promise.

Sincerely,

Tracey
