The 12th Annual CAFÉ Leadership Conference will be hosted by Kendall College in Chicago, June 23-25, 2016.
 
WHO ATTENDS? Secondary and postsecondary foodservice instructors, deans and directors
 
WHAT IS THE PROGRAM? Hands on master classes; an opening night reception recognizing Award winners; a full day of industry outreach and updates (including an InfoFair); a full day of Educational Best Practices (information from your peers across the country.
 
WHEN? We begin on Thursday afternoon, June 23rd and end on Saturday afternoon, June 25th.
 
HOW CAN I ATTEND? This event defines professional development.
 
If there are no funds there, then consider applying for one of the many award programs (listed below) that each include cash and a complimentary registration.
 
Share a room!  Or consider it a great few days for you and your family to vacation in Chicago!

COOKING COMPETITION FOR FOODSERVICE INSTRUCTORS
 
The National Pork Board is offering for the first time a cooking competition for foodservice instructors.
 
FIRST:  You have to submit a recipe/picture of a pork dish that is original and has not been used in a prior contest. Submit the recipe along with your complete contact information no later than March 1.
 
NEXT:  Eight "winners" will be selected to compete on Thursday, June 23rd, at Kendall College. You will prepare an original pork dish (not the one you submitted for the contest) for the judges.  The winner will be announced that evening at the opening night reception.
 
GRAND PRIZE:  The chef instructor winner will head to the 2017 Pork Summit, an exclusive educational (spring) weekend held at The Culinary Institute of America's Greystone Campus in St. Helena, CA.  The event features chef demonstrations, farm to fork education and an opportunity to work in the world-famous teaching kitchens with guest chefs and foodservice trade media.

We are almost full!  Some recent folks from Idaho, Maine, Missouri, and New Jersey just got added to the list.  The geographic diversity of this gathering has never happened before.  It is guaranteed to be a memorable event!!

CAFÉ is dedicated to linking the foodservice industry with the foodservice classroom.  As a result, we are fortunate to have industry partners who are willing to reward and recognize educators and programs that are going "above and beyond" their efforts in culinary/baking/pastry education.
 
This year we have some NEW twists on some familiar Award Programs:

If you submitted an application in 2015 for an Award, we urge you to submit again.  Read the criteria carefully and provide documentation along with your narrative.  There were many great applications last year and not everyone could be recognized.
