CAFÉ was proud to partner with the National Honey Board for their Student Recipe Contest.  Here is their announcement to the over 100 entries they received and we congratulate the winners!

Dear Honey Recipe Contest Instructor Participants,

We want to thank each and every one of you and your students for your enthusiastic response to the National Honey Board's "Perfect Pairings" Student Recipe Contest. We were so impressed with the participation and effort demonstrated in the 100+ entries (200+ honey-inspired food and beverages recipes) received. Many of you went above and beyond, leveraging the contest to not only inform and inspire your students in the classroom and kitchen, but to create honey-themed cookbooks for fundraising purposes, and more. Ultimately, you inspired us!

It was very difficult to narrow the many excellent entries down to just two winners. Thank you for your patience as we carefully reviewed each one. As National Honey Board Director of Marketing Catherine Barry said it best, "We think the winning students did an exceptional job of highlighting the versatility of honey through their food and beverage pairings." And without further ado, following are the winners of the 2013 Perfect Pairings Honey Recipe Contest:

Grand Prize ($1,000):

- Crispy Thai Honey Chicken Wings (Gluten-free) with Honey Hibiscus Drink

Monique Blake, McFatter Technical Center

Instructors: Chefs Krista Tamma and Patti Lang

Runner Up ($500):

- Honeyed Pear Galette with Buzzing Hot Toddy

Courtney Allison, Milwaukee Area Technical College

Instructor: Chef Andrew Schneider

The instructors who supervised the winning students will receive a $250 cash prize and complimentary registration to a 2014 GMC/CAFE leadership conference. The winning student recipes will be featured on www.honey.com in early 2014.
