CAFÉ will once again be hosting an all-day Educational Best Practices Symposium as part of its annual Leadership Conference, June 20-22, 2013, in Miami, Florida.
We’re looking for presenters! The Conference theme is “Connecting with the Future.” What does this look like for you and your students? How are you planning for the changes that most certainly lie ahead in preparing our students for the hospitality industry? What technologies are imperative?
We’re asking for proposals by the end of October which will be reviewed by Dr. Fred Mayo (NY University), Dr. Colin Roche (Johnson & Wales University), and Daryl Nosek (Westchester Community College). There will be several opportunities to present and/or host a roundtable discussion.
Presenters will be given a discount on their registration to the Conference.
There will be a FIRST-EVER Postsecondary Deans and Directors Retreat in Chicago, February 22-24, 2013.
The idea? Let’s practice our 20/20 Vision!
Have you and your department started your strategic planning for 2012? This week-end program will be showcasing the absolute newest ideas in higher education as well as showcasing some innovations in our industry (think Mega Trends), our classroom (think Visual Pedagogy) as well as showing you some ideas from folks who are absolutely convinced that higher education will be delivered, validated, and perceived differently in 2020.
In addition, CAFÉ is pleased to announce the first Mercer Speaker Series presenter…Jack Uldrich, from the School of UnLearning. Mr. Uldrich is a futurist who has researched and will share with you ideas for approaching (and thriving in) the future of education. Google Mr. Uldrich or go to one of his websites, www.schoolofunlearning.com.
If you are reading this and think that you or your Dean or Director should participate, please forward this to him/her, have them read the brief overview to be found at http://cafemeetingplace.com/2020-vision.html and then contact the CAFÉ office with any questions.
This event will be limited to 50 participants. It will begin on Friday afternoon and end on Sunday afternoon. Hotel information for the Chicago event can be found at http://cafemeetingplace.com/pdf/events/2020hotel12.pdf
