Pointer:  Get to the Point.  Be Brief

Don't over explain an idea.

Get to the point. Otherwise you'll probably frustrate your listeners, and they may tune you out.

Make every word count. Don't ramble on and on - no matter how excited you are about your idea. (It's very rare that others need every little detail.)

How do you do this? Decide on the point or idea you want to convey, and make it as memorable as possible. "I've learned a way to save $3,000 a year by growing food in a roof garden."

Wow!

Then share a few of the most important steps you took to accomplish that.

People have short attention spans, and wandering through many details confuses them.

If you can't write your idea on the back of an envelope, it may be too complicated.

Note: There are exceptions. Some people, women more than men, want to

hear all the little details. So, if you and a good friend have lots of time to chat, go ahead. Ramble on!

But be able to explain your idea(s) briefly when that works best.
