Downtown Movement
If you have or haven't been downtown lately, you will notice significant changes in the look and feel of the district -- starting at Pinecrest and West Nine and continuing onto Woodward Avenue. As is the mantra of Downtown Ferndale, Change is Good -- and boy there's been a lot of that lately!

To recap:
  • The West Nine Streetscape & Water Main Replacement Project , , AKA How the West was One, is nearing completion and will be celebrated in full on October 26 with a Hoe Down planned to coincide with Downtown Ferndale's Trick or Treat Night.  Details TBD and you can get them as they become available at  www.downtownferndale.com.
  • Modern Natural Baby and Painting With a Twist have both reopened their brand new and amazing stores in the former Dollar Castle, now a most beautiful building in Downtown. Located at 200 W. Nine Mile Road, the two stores take up 2/3rds of the revitalized space, leaving ample room for one more new retailer.
  • Schramm's Mead, a one-of-a-kind meadery, should be opening soon in the former Record Collector at 327 West Nine.
  • The Public House, a stunning combination of great design and amazing food, is set to open this weekend.  Find the Public House in space once known as Josephine's at 241 W. Nine Mile Rd.
  • Zeke's BBQ is still on board to open in the former AJ's Music Cafe, 240 W. Nine Mile.  No dates yet.
  • Elegance by Design has right sized its retail space and will be reopening soon in the former Painting With A Twist at  3209  W. Nine.
  • On Woodward Avenue, you may have noticed new construction at the once empty space between Cambourne and Lewiston.  The Shoppes of Ferndale are underway at that location and will include several new Woodward storefronts with parking in the rear.
  • On Vester Street, the former VFW is being repurposed by Dean Bach of Dino's Restaurant & Lounge and will become MBrew featuring Michigan beers and more.

VOTE for

PUBLIC ART

Eleven outdoor sculptures, installed temporarily in the spring of 2013, need your attention.

 Which one is your favorite?

The Ferndale DDA is committed to adding to Downtown Ferndale's permanent public art collection but it wants to first know -- which sculpture do you like best?

Voting for your favorite continues thru midnight, Thursday, Sept. 19.  The top 5 vote getters will then be reviewed before the final choice is made.

Haven't voted yet?  Visit Downtown Ferndale on facebook and "like" the one you love.  Look for results early next week.
