Howdy!
It's hard to believe this is the 18th newsletter since How the West was One started, back on May 1. What a distance we've traveled within that 1/4 mile stretch of road!
Our walk-thru this week revealed the good, the bad and the really, really ugly. The removal of road and sidewalks on the south side of West Nine is as daunting as digging the trench for the water main. Crews have to manipulate giant machines with precision as they take out concrete up to the front door. They have been doing a terrific job -- and that's really, really good!
The week ahead:
- Once again, there will be temporary driveway interruptions as the work continues.
- Sidewalk removal is almost complete.
- Electrical work for the decorative lamp posts, etc. will begin.
- Irrigation system being installed.
- Dream Cruise festivities began Thursday, which included shutting down W9 from Woodward to Allen and E9 from Woodward to Bermuda. Both are outside of the construction zone, but there will be residual effects on traffic in the downtown area.
Still coming your way:
- Visits by DDA staff to HWO Businesses with a questionnaire about what else we can do to help you.
- Distribution of hard copy Pony Express to post near Business POS for customers.
Again, call 248-546-1632 if you have questions or concerns. We are here to help!
