ATTENTION BUSINESSES!
We Want to Help You!
Last week, when access was closed to 8 Degrees Plato during one of its busiest days of the year, the DDA responded by organizing a CASH MOB.
In the weeks ahead, we'd like to help you by putting together an eblast coupon edition featuring West Nine businesses. If you will send your "offer" to info@downtownferndale.com, we will format it and get it out to 1900+ consumers. Deadline is July 2nd, for an after-the Fourth edition. If you have questions, call Chris Hughes at 248-546-1632. She will assist you in putting together something to generate publicity and/or foot traffic for your business.
...And As Usual
Weekly construction meeting scheduled for 11 am, Thursday, June 27 at the DDA Office, 149 W. Nine. See you there!

June 23, 2013
Greetings from West Nine!
This week the message is short and sweet! With the mainline fully underground, the final step to completing "The Big Dig" is making connections to the system at Planavon and Livernois. This work is scheduled for Monday, June 24. The hook ups will cause water service interruptions for up to 6 hours for businesses on both sides of West Nine between Planavon and Spaulding & Curtin, and for residents on Livernois, north to Cambourne. Sav-A-Lot will experience an extended interruption during its water service connection, scheduled for Monday.
Completed:
- The work on Farmdale took longer than anticipated, due to the discovery of an inordinate amount of unexpected "old" pipes, lines, etc. Crews worked 16 hours last Saturday and had to return to complete the job on Monday. They installed 3 gate valve - those giant cement cistern-like pieces that had been sitting in the median at Livernois all during the project. There was dirt and water and debris everywhere. "Sometimes you have to take a little more time to get it right," said Matt Davis, overseer of the project. THANK YOU to everyone for patience during this process.
- Foundations for all the new street lights have been poured.
- Curb work continues. Check it out and you'll how the road will flow.
What to Expect in the Week Ahead:
- Everyone should be on the new water main by Tuesday!
- Installation of irrigation system and underground electrical continues.
- Base concrete pour in mainline trench.
- Driveways and sidewalks - work continues.
Gussy Up I -- It's starting! More details next week.
We are pleased to report that everything is on and/or ahead of schedule. Doesn't mean it will stay that way and as usual, all dates are tentative and shift according to weather and unforeseen circumstances. However, a good start is great and we've got one. Again, thank you for your patience. Call if the DDA at 248-546-1632 with your questions. We are here to inform and help!
Sincerely,
