May 10, 2013
Greetings from West Nine!
CONSTRUCTION ALERT FOR
WEEK OF MAY 13, 2013
LIGHTS:
DTE arrived ahead of schedule and the street lights on West Nine are now in the process of being removed. It's dark out there so please be careful.
HWO BUSINESSES: It's time for Lights Up! Please hang the strings of lights you were given. If you did not receive lights, call the DDA. Also, please refer to the Lights Out/Light Up information sheet for more details in lighting the area around your business. We need you to power up!
TRAFFIC:
- West Nine reduced to two lanes with placement of orange barrels & road restriping on Monday, May 13.
- Livernois on the north side of West Nine will be closed to thru traffic starting Monday, May 13.
- Kenton, Beaufield and Dover will now DEAD END during construction at West Nine. Residential access via Albany.
- NO Parking on West Nine Mile Road on-street, west of Planavon starting May 13
HWO BUSINESSES: Please share traffic flow changes with your customers so they can get to you and your neighbors. Refer to map in the Gold Rush Survival Kit for details.
CONSTRUCTION:
- Pavement & sidewalks will be sawcut and removed starting Tuesday, May 14 - Friday, May 17.
- Driveways and sidewalks will be placed with temporary aggregate to maintain access to businesses. Temporary closure may be required as the contractor works through each driveway. This should be only for a short duration of time.
- The Big Dig Water Main construction begins end of the week, Monday the 20th at latest. Crews will start at Pinecrest and work their way east to Planavon. Construction crews will notify businesses about interrupted water service a day ahead.
WATER:
No water main shut-downs are anticipated this week.
HWO BUSINESSES:
- Driveway access to your business is to be maintained at all times (per contract), however temporary closures or partial access may be necessary--you will be notified individually. If you have questions about access or concerns, please contact: 248-546-1632
- In addition, you should make available alternative access to your establishment via side or back doors.
- As a precaution, stock your business with 5-10 gallons of water for the duration of the road work.
