CONSTRUCTION ALERTS

1. The Big Flush will not occur on May 5th and will not be rescheduled. The Department of Public Works has determined that the additional flush will not be advantageous to construction, and that the normal course of water main replacement construction will suffice in meeting project goals.

2. Lights Out/Lights Up! DTE notified the City of Ferndale today that they will be removing the cobrahead lights between Livernois and Pinecrest beginning on May 9th, weather permitting. Businesses: Please make sure to check your exterior lighting, and follow the DDA's Lights Up Guide, included in the Survival Kit. If you have not picked up your Survival Kit, we are happy to deliver them to your place of business. Alternatively, please feel free to stop in for our Open House on May 6th.

MAY 6th OPEN HOUSE

If you were unable to join us at the Groundbreaking Ceremony this past week, please join us on May 6th from 9am - 12pm at the Ferndale DDA, located at 149 West Nine Mile, for an Open House to discuss the construction details. You can pop in at any time, and our staff will be happy to answer all of your questions and address any concerns. Stay as long as you like!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

We are encouraging all businesses to have 5-10 gallon containers of water on-site for the duration of the water main work. As our construction requires the water to be shut off for some periods of time throughout the project, we want to ensure that you are prepared, in case water is needed for restrooms, wash sinks, etc.

2013 STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION:

Stage I -- The Big Dig Water Main Replacement -- North side of West Nine Mile, Planavon to Pinecrest.  May-July

Stage II -- Gussy Up I - Streetscape Construction -- North side of West Nine Mile, Livernois to Pinecrest,  July-August

Stage III -- Gussy Up II - Streetscape Construction - South side of West Nine Mile, Livernois to Pinecrest, Sept.-Nov.

Throughout the run of the project, the Ferndale DDA will do its best to keep you informed and up to date on progress of the project.  Please visit our website at www.DowntownFerndale.com, Downtown Ferndale on facebook, follow us on Twitter, tune into our YouTube channel and see what we are pinning on Pinterest.  In addition, those who sign up will receive weekly updates via The Pony Express Eblast -- sent directly to your inbox from weekly construction meetings.

We know the road ahead may sometimes be treacherous so we are asking for your patience and your continued shopping and dining in Downtown Ferndale.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call the DDA at 248-546-1632.   We are here to inform and help!

Sincerely,
