Dear ,

Thank you for taking the time to work with a local middle school student with one of our partners in the Asheville-Buncombe Middle Grades Network. You are making an invaluable impact in the lives of middle schoolers and their families. Every moment you spend with a student leads to their long-term success. Thank you for what you are doing - you are making a difference!

As the volunteer center of United Way, Hands On Asheville-Buncombe not only wants to help recruit great people for this effort, we want to make sure you have the tools you need to be confident and successful in your work.

Below you'll find links to resources, support and updates about our collective progress.

Thank you again and please let me know if I can help you,

Update From United Way's Middle School Success Initiative

Volunteer John Kelley shares his experience being a "Breakfast Buddy" morning mentor at Enka Middle School. Imagine the difference you could make by spending time once-a-week over breakfast with a young boy or girl who needs additional positive support from a caring adult. You can do pre-planned activities with them or just hang out and chat!  If John can do it YOU can too!
School's Out!  How to Combat the "Summer Slide"

School's out! Summer break is a great chance for students to have fun, and recharge. But too often, students lose valuable learning and enter school in the fall at a loss. Many children in our community do not have access to fun and enriching activities - when the school doors close for the summer their access to quality educational and developmental opportunities ends. Not to mention the opportunity to be in safe places with adult supervision and the guarantee of a healthy breakfast and lunch. Learn how to combat the "summer slide" and find out how to volunteer with Hands On partner programs that combat middle school cobwebs! Click Here
How's It Going?

We would love to hear about your service experience!
