National Volunteer Week: April 10-16
Hands On would like to take this opportunity to thank the generous spirit of service our volunteers bring to the community. We are proud of you, and the generous gifts of time and talent each of you share! In 2015, 3,275 of you volunteered over 4,150 times and gave 21, 394 hours of service!

 Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity's busy ReStore needs Hands On Flex volunteers to help accept donations. Receiving lane volunteers interact with donors, accepting donations, writing a tax receipt if desired, and taking the donations to the appropriate bin or ReStore department where they will then be processed, tested, etc. This is a fun opportunity for a small team to work together, and for those who enjoy seeing treasure arrive as they interact with community donors. V.E.G. (Verner Experiential Garden)
Join Verner Center for Early Learning parents, families and other Hands On Flex volunteers to help keep up with the maintenance of their beautiful garden. Projects will vary each month, but will include planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting, and other necessary work. This is a family-friendly volunteer opportunity - children of all ages are encouraged to join in the fun! Verner's educational philosophy highlights the importance of outdoor experiential education for young learners. Verner will provide all of the needed tools, but volunteers are asked to wear clothes that can get dirty, close-toed shoes, and bring garden gloves if they have them. LEARN MORE & SIGN UP> |

A great feature of our new website is the ability to view and print your own unique "volunteer resume". All service hours are reflected in your volunteer profile as they are approved and entered in our database. Volunteer and watch them grow! Shout out to Duke Energy employees who spent several afternoons installing a beautiful sun shade integrated into an outdoor classroom space for Enka Middle teachers and students to enjoy.
