Dear Hands On Volunteer,

That's right...1,350!  The most backpacks we've ever collected!  The combined efforts of individuals, civic groups and company employee donors enabled us to support 1,350 local students from low-income families served by Big Brothers Big Sisters, Buncombe County Schools Migrant Education Program, Irene Wortham Center, Caring for Children, Child Abuse Prevention Services, Children First/CIS, Literacy Council, Verner Early Learning Center, YMCA: 21st Century Afterschool Program, YWCA, and The Salvation Army/Boys and Girls Club. Donations were also given directly to area schools, including the programs that support students currently experiencing homelessness. Great things happen when we LIVE UNITED!

Fill the Bus 
An awesome crew of volunteers stood outside Walmart to help us reach as many donors for our Back-to-School Supply Drive as possible. We asked a few of them to let us know why they spent a beautiful summer Saturday volunteering for United Way.
