Dear Back-to-School Supply Drive Supporter,
Thank you so much for participating in the Hands On Asheville-Buncombe Back-to-School Supply Drive! This year's drive was a tremendous success. Our community responded beyond expectations to help local students who can't afford school supplies start the school year equipped to succeed. Hands On is proud to announce that a record of 1,350 fully-stocked backpacks were assembled and distributed directly to Asheville Middle and Buncombe County Middle Schools as well as low-income elementary and middle school students served by:
Asheville City Schools: Homebase Program for Homeless Students
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina
Buncombe County Schools: Youth In Transition Support for Homeless Students
Buncombe County Schools: Migrant Education Program
Caring for Children
Child Abuse Prevention Services
Children First/Communities in Schools of Buncombe County
Irene Wortham Center
Literacy Council of Buncombe County
The Salvation Army / Boys & Girls Club
Verner Center for Early Learning
YMCA: 21st Century Afterschool Program
YWCA
Hands On thanks all of the local companies, civic and faith groups, and individual donors who contributed supplies. We also thank the many volunteers who supported events and sorted and packed backpacks. Special thanks to Asheville Radio Group's Mix 96.5, The Asheville Tourists and Walmart for hosting our "Fill the Bus" Events. Great things happen when we LIVE UNITED!
*If you coordinated a company-wide drive, we encourage you to share our thanks and this email with your team.
With appreciation,
Hands On Asheville-Buncombe &
