when we hold the power

Into the hospital lobby I went, paperwork and Papa Louie in hand as I pushed him in his wheelchair to a doctor appointment. I had read the paperwork ahead which included directions to the office, and yet when I approached the reception desk in the main lobby, I asked the volunteer for directions anyhow.

He sent me - puzzled - upstairs to the 4th floor (I thought where we were going was on the 1st floor?)

We traipsed up the elevator to discover the 4th floor was not where we needed to be; and traipsed down the elevator, pushing Papa Louie who kept asking, "Where are we going?"

When I passed by the nice volunteer in the main lobby, I said sort of kidding: "You sent me to the wrong office; it's this way." I was still holding the paper - with the correct way - in my hands.

Why, snippeteers, when we have the power within us, do we act helpless? And then if something doesn't go right, we blame it on another person or situation?

I had it in my power the entire time to place Papa and me in the right medical office and instead I depended on an outside source, and then blamed him when it went awry.

Remember, when you are holding the power ... use it. And remember ... you are more powerful than you know.

"Thank you for your inspirational messages each week.
Awesome."

thoughts on last week's issue:

"Oh, you had to write that column for me. My kids, my grandkids - their comfy place always comes first. Last weekend I realized I had done nothing for myself - everything was for everyone else. How can I be re-energized if I don't take the time for me? Something I need to work on, and allow me to help them grow up in the process! Thanks for the reminder!"
