just start over

Every day is a do over. Wait, make that every next minute that we have the opportunity to ditch what we didn't like, and start over. If we didn't like our action or words of 30 minutes ago, or last week, or last month, okay ... so we move past it and move on.

Last month I had chosen bad things to eat. Breakfast started out well with yogurt, fruit and cottage cheese; lunch wasn't too bad, then the portion sizes and junk choices went downhill from there: Cool Ranch Doritos, licorice, ice cream, candy, chicken wings, too much sugar and lots of bread ... well, you get the junk food picture. It was a February of good / bad eating when I know better of what feels good for my body overall; a body I strive to take healthy care of with regular exercise, eight hours of sleep, and gallons of water.

What I got out of the decision to eat the junk food was ... this snippet ... and a stomach ache.

February ended and March began, and I started over. I didn't sabotage myself, didn't dwell on it, knew it was temporary Miss Piggy insanity. We all do and say stuff we "shouldn't." But we're not idiots, ditzes, or piggies - nor should we call ourselves names.

Can you think of something for which you are sabotaging yourself because you didn't do or say the right thing? Well, snippeteers, today is new and it offers us a fresh chance and another beginning. And if this morning didn't go as you wanted, then this afternoon is the next opportunity.

Let's move past it, move on. Just start over.

  thoughts on last issue:
when do we quit?

"I wanna quit my intense orange theory class. I am sore for two days and wondering what I got myself into. My arms hurt, I can barely move my legs. They should pay me for taking this class. But then I realize if I keep going it's to my benefit. I will feel better, sleep better, look better. So I decided that the pain right now is worth the end result and I really can't quit; I have too much invested at this point. So, as they say, I will feel the burn and push on through and hope they don't have to peel me off the walls at the end of each class."
