see it through

At the nail salon, I had agreed with the nail technician to paint a design of her choice on my big ole toes. On top of the summer pink polish, I watched her paintbrush create a thick black stroke from top to bottom of the nail. Black? My friend Jillian was alongside me; we glared at each other with scrunchy faces that basically translated to "Ewww ... what the heck is she making? It's going to be ugly."

Although I wanted to appeal the unwanted black polish and stop the nail tech from continuing, I said to Jillian, "Let's see where she's taking this. I'll look when she's finished." And I diverted my attention.

I had decided to trust the process.

Five minutes later I looked south to my big ole toes to see that the nail tech had created a delightful design that included white and

pink lines and circles over the black. I loved it! The thick black stroke had been only the base - something to build upon. Overall, she had done a nice job.

Sometimes, during the "process" of a situation, we do not trust what we are seeing. We want to appeal it, question it, and stop it, since we cannot see the final outcome. We watch carefully step by step, at times scrunching our faces, wondering what the heck is happening and thinking it certainly will have an ugly outcome. Then miraculously, all the steps piece together and the end result is good

With what in your life could you practice more patience as you watch the process unfold? Perhaps you're thinking the outcome may be ugly? Maybe it didn't start off so well (think about that icky black color on the big toe) ... yet might it be a good base?

Trust the process. See it through. You might have to divert your attention until it's all finished, and that's okay. Just know that each step is happening for a reason and the outcome might be good
