inspiration station
beautiful ... 1 at a time

Forgive if I've relayed this story before ... in 2001 on a splendid trip to Italy with our entire Molino family, cousins, and then some, my sister Paula noticed a pile of jewelry on the nightstand in the bedroom we shared in Sardinia, in our grandparents and great-grandparents former home.

"Is that all the jewelry you brought on the trip?" Paula asked.

My reply: "No, that's all the jewelry I took off today."
  ;-]

Perhaps I was a GYPSY in another life, which may explain why I wear pounds of jewelry; who knows? I don no less than 4 to 5 bracelets on my right wrist as I get dressed. And out of 10 fingers, usually there are 7 rings present. Double or triple necklaces; earrings in all 5 holes, 3 ankle bracelets. (But no toe rings - too uncomfy). Love my gems, jewels and bling. Gypsy Girl all the way.

The other day I put on a very lovely designer bracelet and before adding another, I paused a moment to really look at the bracelet. I said aloud to no one in particular, "You know, this bracelet is really very pretty. Yet I never wear it by itself." So I did.

And on some days since, I have been decorating my arm with only one bracelet (it's hard for me to do, I admit!) so as to appreciate its beauty. Beautiful bangles ... one at a time.

Wearing too many of one thing reminds us of how we sometimes don't really 'see' and 'appreciate' people. Have you ever "felt like a number?" In a university setting perhaps? As a hospital patient? In a crowd at a concert or other highly attended event with throngs of people? Have you ever felt invisible? A nameless face?

Brad Paisley's song says it ...

To the teller down at the bank
You're just another checking account;
To the plumber that came today
You're just another house;
At the airport ticket counter
You're just another fare;
At the beauty shop at the mall
Well you're just another head of hair;
To the world you may be just another girl
But to me, Baby, you are the world

People as a whole sometimes can 'mesh' together. And when that happens, we no longer see each of their faces, each of their personalities, each of them individually. Like the bracelets, when too many are parading along an arm, it's difficult to see the beauty of just ONE.

Let's strive to really SEE each person we encounter. As we bee-bop around life, let's see each face, each personality, each individual, each head of hair.

Beautiful people ... one at a time.

#in #the #case #of #hashtags

ALL RISE. Order in the court!

Could someone help Judgmental Judy understand something? Why do people write and post using hashtags? We see stuff like ...

#loving life #amazing #thrilling #love pickles #happy stuff #let's party #fun fun fun #you know it ... or whatever garbled string of words they're choosing to write in this petty irritation in Judgmental Judy's court.

What the heck is a hashtag anyhow? J.Judy knows what a tag is because she shops. She knows what hash is since it was around to smoke back in college in the 1970s/80s.

Is Judgmental Judy that much of a fossil since she remembers when the symbol "#" was simply used to indicate "number" or the penciled base for a good old game of TIC-TAC-TOE? Or the "pound" sign on a telephone?

Yea yea sure, we understand that TWITTER has saturated the market with tweets and twits and cheeps and peeps with their little blue bird; and thus began the Hashtag Epidemic. Yet why do people write with them in texts, emails and on facebook posts? For emphasis? They are slightly more annoying than when people use too many "!!!!!!"s behind every single sentence. (Because why? We're excited!!!!!)

Sorry, Judgmental Judy just doesn't get the hashtag communication. #The #Judge #thinks #writing in #hashtags #is #PLAIN #STUPID ... #so #there.

Don't come a-hash-taggin' into her court spouting off single words behind pound signs, because The Judge will bang her gavel, as she does this minute on #writing #in #hashtags. Full sentences work just fine, please and thank you.

Case closed.

"One day I was walking the dogs in our little neighbor- hood park. I thought to myself, There sure is a lot of trash on the ground and someone needs to pick it up.  Then I told myself, I was that someone. I picked up about three grocery bags worth of trash, threw it away and went on with my day. Later I walked to the corner store, got me a scratch-off lottery ticket. I won $50!!! I felt like I had gotten paid. That was nice. I pick up trash more often now. We have been noticing broken glass. So if I see empty glass bottles, I pick those up. So the kids don't get hurt. Or the dogs!!! Gotta look out for those doggies. It's a shame people don't appreciate what they are given. Dogs do!!!"
