For you "Ally McBeal" fans, you're familiar with the character
"John Cage," the quirky funny little man, the calm quiet lawyer who stops where he is - whether in courtroom or conference room - to utter, "I'm troubled," then proceeds to bow his head, pinch the middle of his forehead in two fingers and says, "I need a moment." Everyone looks at him in weird wonderment and with puzzled expressions, but they never stop him. They respect his "moment."
I adore John 'The Biscuit' Cage. He knows. He knows when it's time to recognize feelings of angst, unsettlement or stress. He knows when it's time to stop in his tracks and B.R.E.A.T.H.E. Even if it annoys the judge. He understands why it's necessary to "take a moment."
Let's learn from John. Fictional, yes. But his concept? Real.
Are you troubled? Take your moment. Whether it's bowing your head, stepping outside, counting to 20, running away for the weekend, phoning a friend, praying a prayer, slowing the insanity, dancing in the kitchen, saying no, saying yes, laughing out loud ... whatever it takes to B.R.E.A.T.H.E.
Take a moment.
You may feel less troubled.
