We sure have been busy over here at Artist Trust! We've been getting ready for our benefit art auction in March (volunteers needed!). And there are many opportunities coming up this month for artists and writers to receive valuable financial and professional support: the 2015 Fellowships, the Twining Humber Award, and the LIT Edge Professional Development program. We're also seeking a Program Intern  and a Strategic Planning Intern .

There are five more days left to apply for the Artist Trust 2015 Fellowships for Washington State artists working in emerging fields/cross-disciplinary, performing, traditional/folk, and visual arts. These $7,500 awards recognize 12 practicing professional artists of exceptional talent and demonstrated ability, acknowledging the artist's creative excellence and accomplishment, professional achievement and continuing dedication to their artistic discipline. (Craft, literary, media, and music arts will be offered in 2016.)

In addition, one artist each in emerging fields/cross-disciplinary and visual arts will receive a one-month residency at The Millay Colony for the Arts in upstate New York, along with a $1,000 stipend.

The EDGE Professional Development Program provides literary artists with the relevant and necessary entrepreneurial skills to achieve their personal career goals as well as to develop peer support. EDGE offers comprehensive training in professional practices through a hands-on, interactive curriculum that includes instruction by professionals in the field, as well as specialized presentations, panel discussions, and assignments.

EDGE curriculum includes:

  • The Business of Writing

Twining Humber Award Nominations Now Open

Nominations for the annual Irving and Yvonne Twining Humber Award are now open! The award recognizes creative excellence, professional accomplishment, and dedication to the visual arts. It is an unrestricted $10,000 award given annually to a Washington State female visual artist, age 60 or over, who has dedicated 25 years or more to creating art. Any United States resident may nominate a Washington State female artist who fulfills the criteria.

Volunteer for the 2015 Benefit Art Auction! This auction is one of our biggest events of the year and we could not do it without you! From mailing invitations to setting up the space to pouring drinks, there are dozens of opportunities to make the night a success. Please consider joining us at Artist Trust and the Seattle art community by volunteering your time and energy. Not only will you have a blast, but by volunteering for 5 hours you will receive a yearlong membership with Artist Trust! We're seeking two new interns to work in our office. Have what it takes? Application deadlines are coming up quick so apply now!
  • Program Intern: We're looking for a detail-oriented, highly organized intern to help out with our Programs Department. Internships run four to six months, 12-20 hours per week. Paid stipend. 
  • Strategic Planning Intern: We're also looking for an intern to assist with our strategic planning initiative. The Strategic Planning Intern will assist with state-wide information gathering to inform Artist Trust's new strategic direction.
